This is a rare collectable. Forty years ago I had a South African acquaintance who had a business buying and selling native african things-of-interest.
He specifically sought old Swahili and Maasai items ... but he also bought items from other tribes. I don't know which tribe member made this bow. Anyway, it was quite old at the time and is made from a local hardwood.

The interestingly shaped iron tips were hand forged, one-by-one from scrap iron, by a local tribe member blacksmith

This crossbow was made about twenty years ago by an Idaho boyer who specialized in doing things the "old-School" way. It is made using the methods, tools and materials that existed in medieval times.
I do not know the draw weight ... but ... I would guess it is about 80 pounds. Nice!
